We had a beautiful night. Everyone packed in to the Nun’s and the atmosphere, the acts and the silliness were truly astonishing.
FORBRUKER (Frankie Thompson) kicked things off with Clyve and his sassy songs of risk inspection. PHIL LINDSEY confused everyone by not appearing on stage for quite some time and using a bald man as an iPod. We sang a song from the Grinch and then SIAN CLARKE did competitive yoga with cider. FRILLS & SPILLS raced for mini battenberg, ELEANOR OF ACCUTAINE (Rebecca Spaven) gave us a 12th century skin care vlog and FRANK FORCAULT (Luke Smith) was all things to all men, least of all a magician. For the 6th time, Mick n Al performed a live version of the John Lewis ad, the brandy was forgotten and it might be their last. THE CARETAKER (Lewis Blomfield) sprayed MJ with cheap prosecco causing his cheap dragon makeup to run in to his eyes. QUEEN LIZ 2 (Jim Slim) gave us her heart warming speech for the year and HELEN DUFF rounded us off with some drawing games and sparkling impressions.
We loved it. It reminded us that even under a government that won’t fund those most in need, those pursuing the arts or those marginalised by society, we can come together and create small pockets of joy that are larger than forces of hate. We must continue to do so with even more energy in the next five years.
